Committees
We believe that the Christian Union is owned by the members, for the benefit of the members. As leaders we merely organise events and such forth for the benefit of mission so that as the members as a whole can go and preach good news, as Jesus commanded. As such we wish to give greater opportunity for you guys to have a say in the running of the Christian Union, which is why we have set up three committees. These are as follows:
The Freshers' & Events Committee is focused around, well Freshers' week and Events week. These two weeks are the busiest for the CU and are therefore important. It follows that these weeks should have a committee/creative team built around them so that they can create a Fresher's week that reaches the most number of non-Christians and Christians alike in the most effective way. Events week is solely geared around evangelism and not getting new members (unlike Freshers' week) and therefore requires a dedicated team.
This committee meets at 0:00pm on Mondays
The Evangelism committee are geared more around regular evangelism, and so does not clash with the Freshers' and Events Committee in any manner. This committee/creative team is more geared towards organising regular evangelism (such as teas & coffees and questionnairing) and monthly evangelism. Also they are the team that help come up with ideas for those events such as Pub Quizzes, Acoustic Nights and if we have enough money Celidhs.
This committee meets at 0:00pm on Mondays
The House-Party committee are about organising a CU weekend away for the first semester, designed at creating greater unity and greater friendships, and training members in evangelism (such as techniques & tips, or a particular aspect of theology). This committee will organise, places available, location, speaker, theme & everything else. This will be a first for the CU in a number of teams, and may prove to be unviable, however we wish to give it our best shot.
