Our Vision

As a CU we are about evangelism. We are here to reach the lost and to tell them of Jesus and the Good  News. We 'Live for Jesus' and 'Speak for Jesus'.

However  we also believe it is important to have a Vision Statement for the CU as it sets the direction of everything we do and Proverbs 29:18 (KJV) states "Where there is no vision, the people perish" as such our vision is stated below.

Our vision is "To give every student in Hull University an opportunity to hear and respond to the gospel of Jesus Christ."

Facilitating the Vision

We as an exec came up with a direction for the CU to grow and develop over the next year in which we can better achieve this vision and can be outlined as follows.

  1. Biblical Teaching

    • Teaching to be more Focused on mission & core aspects of the Gospel

    • Currently too deep for any non-Christians that may come along

  2. Gospel Focused

    • Semester 1 study on Identity in Christ

    • Semester 2 study on the Doctrinal basis and how that relates to mission

    • Greater Unity - possibility of a CU House-Party to create greater unity and get training in evangelism at the same time

  3. Church Committing

    • It is good to get involved into a church so for this year's freshers' we will be running a 'Church Search'

    • 'Church Search' is a five week programme where we liaise with the local churches to get Christians to visit and try out local churches

  4. Constantly Praying

    • It is important to pray together as a CU

    • Prayer Meeting failed previously which may be due to a number of reasons so:

    • We are planning on either a Monthly prayer meeting or having prayer instead of worship every other week at the main CU meeting.

  5. Evangelistically Thinking

    • Currently

    • Freshers' Week, Events Week, 2 Text a Washer Uppers, Christmas Jazz/Pub Quiz, socials geared towards CU Members

    • In Future

    • Freshers' Week & Events Week

    • Regular Tea & Coffee/Questionnairing

    • Monthly Evangelism (such as Open Mic Night, Jazz Night, Quiz Night, Celidh)

    • Evangelism Committee to work out the details of regular evangelism

  6. Graciously Giving

    • In Future there will only be financial presentations - the week before a gift day & the first few weeks of  a new academic year

    • There will be a gift bucket/plate by the door

    • We do not wish to keep badgering you as giving should be out of the heart and not as of legalism

Committees

  • We are setting up committees to help facilitate the CU’s work and come up with fresh and creative ideas.

  • These committees are:

    • Freshers’ & Events Committee
    • Evangelism Committee
    • House-Party Committee
  • If you wish to be a part of a committee please speak to one of us on the exec. (Regular commitment required)
