Church Committing
| God's plan for his people and for salvation is not
the Christian Union, rather it is through the local and global
church. The CU exists as an extension of that, not instead of.
The local churches commission and send out their students out to
do evangelism, and the CU exists to facilitate that. The church
being God's plan is evident throughout the new testament,
particularly in Acts where the early church was founded. This is why we emphasise being a part of a local church. Of course you need to find a church so go church hunting, but don't let it go on longer than your first semester. It is why we are linked with local churches, of which you can find out more about in the church guide. It is why we have local church leaders speak at the CU (except during the first few weeks of the new academic year) and why we will join up with local churches to do evangelistic events. Paul speaking to the local church in Corinth "Now you are the body of Christ and individually members of it." (1 Corinthians 12:27 ESV) The church is the body of Christ, of which students are only a small part. |
