Generous Giving

Giving is often the last thing people think of for values for a CU, and the least liked, and yet it is so vital, for without it the CU is unable to put on evangelistic events, whether that be for cold contact or relational evangelism. With out finance the CU is simply another meeting to add to you list of Christian Meetings, and worse still like a church without ever being a church. This is NEVER what a CU  should be. A CU should be a mission team sent out by the local churches, not another Christian meeting.

However events cost money, flyers cost money, everything costs money. Even our normal CU meetings cost money. Our main source of finance should be regular giving from CU members, given out of generosity, based upon a good understanding of the gospel.

2 Corinthians 9:7-8 says "Each man should give what he has decided in his heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work." This is what we aim for, what motivates us. This comes from an understanding of what God has given us, both personally and more importantly at the cross (which is still personal).
